IGCSE online tuition in Dubai, 1-on-1
Most British-curriculum schools in Dubai teach the IGCSE over Years 10 and 11 and sit the papers in May and June of Year 11, on either the Cambridge (CAIE) or the Pearson Edexcel board; a few enter the November or January sessions. The two boards share most of the content and differ in the papers, the tiers and the mark schemes: Cambridge maths 0580 has Core and Extended, Edexcel 4MA1 has Foundation and Higher, and a method that scores full marks on one board can lose a mark on the other for a missing step.
Our IGCSE classes are on your child's board and tier from the first lesson, one tutor with one child on a shared whiteboard: the topic from the syllabus, guided practice, then past-paper questions marked to that board's mark scheme, with the recording, notes and the marked script for the parent. Maths, Additional Maths, physics, chemistry, biology and combined or coordinated science, with tutors who hold a master's in the subject.

Grades: Cambridge A* to G (or 9 to 1 on the UK-graded 0980), Edexcel 9 to 1. The mark schemes are public for both boards and we mark to them from the first past paper in Year 10, because the mark scheme, not the textbook, decides the grade.

Dubai families ask
1Cambridge or Edexcel: does it matter which board my child's school uses?
For the content, little; for the exam, a lot. Cambridge maths 0580 tiers into Core and Extended and its mark schemes want the method written a particular way; Edexcel 4MA1 tiers into Foundation and Higher and allows some calculator methods Cambridge does not credit. The sciences differ in the practical papers. We ask the board and the syllabus code in the first message and teach to that board only.
2When should IGCSE tuition start?
The start of Year 10 for maths and the sciences the child finds hard, because the tier decision (Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher) is made from Year 10 mocks and it is easier to earn the top tier than to argue for it later. For a child already in Year 11, we start with a past paper to find the gaps and work from there; six months is enough for a grade's difference in one subject.
3Do you teach the GCSE (not IGCSE) that some Dubai schools use?
Yes. A few British schools in Dubai enter students for the UK GCSE (AQA or Edexcel 1MA1) rather than the IGCSE; the class is the same in shape, on that board's specification and mark scheme. Say which in the first message.
4What time are classes for families in Dubai?
The UAE is 1.5 hours behind India all year, so 4 to 7 pm in Dubai is 5:30 to 8:30 pm in Chandigarh: ordinary working hours for our tutors, with weekend mornings (Friday and Saturday in the UAE) as Indian late mornings. No midnight shifts, no tired tutor.
5How much does it cost?
About AED 37 to 48 an hour (US$10 to $13), for a live 1-on-1 class with a master's-qualified tutor, the recording of every class, notes and marked homework included, billed monthly with no package and no contract. 6Is the first class free?
Yes. A 30-minute 1-on-1 lesson on the whiteboard in maths or science, at your after-school time, in English, Hindi or Punjabi. Parents sit in. After it we send a short plan and the exact rate, and you decide. No card, no obligation.
7Do you follow the school's book or NCERT?
Both, in this order: the NCERT chapter the school is on, in the school's sequence, with the school's own worksheets and the CBSE sample-paper pattern from Class 9. Where the school runs ahead of NCERT (many Dubai schools do in maths), we follow the school.
