GCSE and IGCSE tutor in Dubai, online and 1-on-1

British-curriculum schools in Dubai sit GCSE or IGCSE in Year 11, and the two are not the same exam: most Dubai schools take Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, a few take the UK GCSE boards, and the papers, tiers, grade scales and mark schemes differ. A GCSE tutor in Dubai who does not ask which board and which tier is guessing. Ours ask in the first message, and teach one board per student, from the board's own past papers and mark scheme, from the start of Year 10.

Our GCSE and IGCSE tutors hold master's degrees in their subjects: maths, physics, chemistry, biology and English. The class is 1-on-1 on a shared whiteboard: the topic a unit ahead of the school, then the board's own questions on it, marked to the published scheme with the lost marks named, and from January of Year 11 one full paper a fortnight. A home GCSE tutor in Dubai costs AED 120 to 250 an hour; this is about AED 37 to 48, with the recording of every class and the marked work sent to the parent.

Grades are 9 to 1 for UK GCSE and Edexcel IGCSE and A* to G for Cambridge IGCSE, and Dubai schools set tiers in Year 10 on evidence from Year 9; a child kept on Core or Foundation cannot score above a C or a 5. The first class checks whether the tier is right and, if not, what it would take to move up.

Knowledge base

Dubai families ask

1How much does a GCSE tutor cost in Dubai?
A home GCSE or IGCSE tutor in Dubai typically charges AED 120 to 250 an hour, and a tuition centre AED 70 to 150 for a group class. Our online 1-on-1 classes are about AED 37 to 48 an hour with a tutor who holds a master's in the subject, the recording of every class and past papers marked to the real scheme included, billed monthly with no package.
2Is my child doing GCSE or IGCSE, and does it matter?
Most British schools in Dubai sit Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE; a few sit the UK GCSE boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR). It matters because the papers, the tiers, the grade scale and the mark schemes differ, and a tutor teaching to the wrong board teaches the wrong question style. Ask the school for the board and the syllabus code; we teach one board per student from its own past papers.
3When should GCSE tutoring start?
Year 10, autumn, for most students: one hour a week from September of Year 10 to the exams is about 70 hours and covers the syllabus a unit ahead of the school with past papers from the spring. Starting in Year 11 works for a student who is close to the grade they want; starting in Year 9 works for a student whose algebra or scientific vocabulary is behind, because Year 10 assumes both.
4Which subjects do you teach at GCSE and IGCSE?
Maths including Additional Maths, physics, chemistry, biology and combined science, and English Language and Literature, each with a tutor who holds a master's in that subject. Many Dubai families take maths and one science with the same weekly plan; the tutors coordinate the past-paper timetable so that the student is never doing two full papers in one week.
5What time are classes for families in Dubai?
The UAE is 1.5 hours behind India all year, so 4 to 7 pm in Dubai is 5:30 to 8:30 pm in Chandigarh: ordinary working hours for our tutors, with weekend mornings (Friday and Saturday in the UAE) as Indian late mornings. No midnight shifts, no tired tutor.
6How much does it cost?
About AED 37 to 48 an hour (US$10 to $13), for a live 1-on-1 class with a master's-qualified tutor, the recording of every class, notes and marked homework included, billed monthly with no package and no contract. Dubai tuition centres publish AED 60 to 150 an hour for CBSE subjects and home tutors AED 100 to 250; the full comparison is on the pricing page.
7Is the first class free?
Yes. A 30-minute 1-on-1 lesson on the whiteboard in maths or science, at your after-school time, in English, Hindi or Punjabi. Parents sit in. After it we send a short plan and the exact rate, and you decide. No card, no obligation.
8Do you follow the school's book or NCERT?
Both, in this order: the NCERT chapter the school is on, in the school's sequence, with the school's own worksheets and the CBSE sample-paper pattern from Class 9. Where the school runs ahead of NCERT (many Dubai schools do in maths), we follow the school.
