1How much does online tutoring cost at Science with Shobha?
US$10 to $13 per hour, for a live 1-on-1 class with a master's-qualified tutor. Where in that range depends on the level: primary and middle-school classes sit at the lower end, senior exam courses (IGCSE, GCSE, A-Level, AP, IB, Class 11 and 12) at the upper end. Families are billed in their own currency at the day's exchange rate.
2Is there a contract or a plan I have to buy?
No. Classes are billed monthly in advance for the classes booked that month, and you can stop at the end of any month. There are no quarterly or yearly plans, no pause days to negotiate and no cancellation fee.
3What is included in the hourly price?
The live 1-on-1 class on a shared whiteboard with the camera on, the recording of every class, notes and an assignment after each class, marked homework, mock papers marked to the real mark scheme before exams, and the same tutor every week. Nothing is charged on top.
4Is the first class free?
Yes. A 30-minute 1-on-1 class in English, Hindi or Punjabi, with no card and no obligation; parents are welcome to sit in. After it we send the plan and the exact rate for your child, and you decide.
5What if we miss a class?
A class cancelled at least 12 hours before is rescheduled in the same month at no cost. A class missed without notice is charged. If the tutor cancels, the class is rescheduled or credited.
6Do you charge less for siblings or for more hours?
The rate is per child per hour. Two children are two rates; a child taking two subjects pays the same hourly rate for both. Ask about a 10-hour exam block before a board exam or a test date.
7Why is it so much cheaper than a local tutor?
Because the tutor teaches from Chandigarh, India, where a master's-qualified teacher's hour costs a fraction of what it costs in the US, UK or Australia, and because there is no agency taking a margin in between. The class itself is the same 1-on-1 hour, with the recording and notes, that a local agency charges four to six times more for.
