CBSE online tuition for Class 6, 1-on-1 from India, in the school's order

Class 6 is the first year of middle school in a CBSE school abroad, and the year the Indian schools of the Gulf and Singapore move fastest: integers, fractions and decimals, ratio and the first algebra in maths; the first proper science, with experiments the school may or may not have the lab for. In a section of 40 to 45 a child who never made times tables and fraction operations automatic in Class 4 and 5 starts to slip here, quietly, and the term result is the first anyone hears of it.

Our Class 6 classes are built on that: a short diagnosis in the free class, the arithmetic that should be automatic made automatic in the first month, then the NCERT chapter the school is on, a step ahead, with the school's own worksheets. Sixty minutes, one tutor, one child, on a shared whiteboard, with the recording to the parent after every class.

Knowledge base

Parents abroad ask about Class 6

1My child was a topper in India and is now average in Class 6 here. What happened?
Usually nothing about the child: the school abroad runs ahead of NCERT in maths and the section is larger, so a child who arrived mid-year is a chapter behind on day one and nobody has time to close it. Three months of 1-on-1 on the gap, in the school's order, usually puts the child back where they were.
2Is Class 6 too early for tuition?
For a child who is comfortable, yes; read with them and let the school do its job. For a child who is slipping in maths, Class 6 is the cheapest year to fix it: the gaps are small (fractions, the number line with negatives, the first equations) and close in weeks, where the same gaps found in Class 9 take a term.
3Who is CBSE online tuition from India for?
Indian families abroad whose child is on the CBSE syllabus: in the Indian schools of the Gulf (the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain), at the CBSE schools in Singapore and Malaysia, and NRI families in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia keeping CBSE alongside the local school for a return to India. The child gets what a child in India would get after school: the NCERT chapter the school is on, taught properly, 1-on-1, with the board pattern from Class 9.
4Do you follow NCERT and the school's order?
Yes. The NCERT chapter the school is on, in the school's own sequence, with the school's worksheets, and the CBSE sample-paper pattern from Class 9. Many Indian schools abroad run ahead of NCERT in maths and finish the book by December; we follow the school, not the book.
5What does it cost, in my currency?
US$10 to $13 an hour, billed monthly in your currency with no package and no contract: about AED 37 to 48, OMR 4 to 5, QAR 37 to 47, KWD 3 to 4, SAR 38 to 49, BHD 3.8 to 4.9, S$13 to S$17, RM 42 to RM 55, Β£8 to Β£10, C$14 to C$18 or A$14 to A$19. A master's-qualified tutor, the recording of every class, notes and marked homework included.
6What time are classes?
In your time zone. The Gulf is 1.5 to 2.5 hours behind India, so 4 to 7 pm there is an ordinary Indian evening and the same tutor stays all year; Singapore and Malaysia are 2.5 hours ahead, an Indian afternoon; the UK is an Indian late evening; the US and Canada get 7 am before school, after 4 pm and weekend mornings from our early-morning tutors.
7Is the first class free?
Yes. A 30-minute 1-on-1 lesson on the whiteboard on the chapter the school is on this week, at a time in your time zone, with you in the room. After it we send a short plan that names the gap and the exact rate, and you decide. No card, no obligation.
8Who are the tutors?
A team of 20+ women educators, each with a master's degree in her subject, who taught CBSE in India before teaching online, teaching from Chandigarh since 2018 in English, Hindi or Punjabi. Every class is recorded and the recording is yours; parents are welcome in every class; the tutor never contacts the child outside the class.
