"How much is Kumon?" has the same awkward answer as most franchised programmes: it depends on the centre, and Kumon's own website does not give a national price. But Kumon centres in the US and Canada do publish their fees on their own pages on kumon.com, Kumon Australia publishes one national price, and Kumon's Dubai centres list theirs. So on 20 October 2026 we read them. This guide gives the published numbers, what they come to for a first month, a year and two subjects, the notice rules that catch families out, the promotions running now, and what to ask.

The short answer

Per subject, per month One-time
USA (38 centres that publish) $120 to $210, median $170 registration $60 to $80, materials $20 to $30
Canada (7 centres that publish) C$160 to C$250 materials about C$30 (registration not always listed)
Australia (national, published) A$160 including GST enrolment A$100
UAE, Dubai (centre pages) AED 850 registration AED 150 to 200
UK centres quote individually; parents report about £60 to £80 registration fee varies

Two subjects (maths and reading) cost double. Kumon's placement test is free everywhere.

What the US centres publish

Kumon centres in the US have an "About the Center" page on kumon.com that lists Tuition, Registration Fee and Materials Fee. We read a sample of 54 centre pages across the country on 20 October 2026; 38 of the US ones list a price.

Tuition per subject, per month Centres Examples
$120 to $150 9 Waimea HI $120; Pembroke $130; Long Island City NY $140; Strongsville OH $140; Dearborn Heights MI, Glenview IL, Rowlett TX $150
$155 to $170 14 Bensalem PA $160; Morrisville NC $160; Erie PA $165; Wilsonville OR $165; Columbia SC, Jacksonville FL, Marietta GA, Tracy CA $170
$175 to $190 12 Roseville CA $175; Henderson NV $175; Modesto CA, Ossining NY, San Diego Point Loma $180; Denver Central Park $185; Houston Spring Valley, Philadelphia Center City $190
$195 to $210 3 Weston FL $195 to $200; El Dorado Hills CA $200; Prospect Heights (Brooklyn) NY $210

Several centres publish a range rather than one figure (Lansdale PA $150 to $170; Mandeville LA $170 to $200; Plainview NY $180 to $200; Bakersfield CA $150 to $200), usually because the fee differs by level or by the number of weekly sessions.

Registration fee: $60 to $80 per student, charged once; 30 of the 36 centres that list it charge $80. Materials fee: $20 to $30; 29 of 35 charge $30. Centres set and change their own fees, so confirm with yours; the point of the sample is the range and the pattern, not any one centre's price.

Canada

Canadian centres use the same page. Those in our sample: Kindersley SK C$160; Stouffville ON C$170 to C$180; Edmonton Walker Lake C$180; London ON Westmount C$185; Edmonton Big Lake C$190; North York (Bathurst and Sheppard) C$200 to C$220; Toronto Eglinton West C$250. Materials C$30 where listed. Toronto is the expensive end, as with every tutoring price in Canada.

Australia

Kumon Australia is the only country site that publishes one national fee: A$160 a month per subject, including GST, and an enrolment fee of A$100, which applies again to a student transferring from another country. The diagnostic test is free. Fees are payable in advance by calendar month (October's fee before the end of September), are not refundable, and notice to stop or transfer is due by the 15th of the month or the next month's fee is payable. A child absent for more than three months who does not resume pays enrolment again.

UAE and the UK

Kumon's Dubai centre pages (Dubai Hills, Dubai Silicon Oasis) list AED 850 a month per subject and a one-off registration fee of AED 150 to 200, with attendance up to twice a week at the centre or online.

Kumon UK does not publish a fee; centre pages say "after registration, you pay a monthly fee for each subject studied" and quote at the free assessment. Parents report roughly £60 to £80 a month per subject plus a registration fee. Ask the centre for its fee sheet in writing.

What it adds up to

USA (median centre) Australia
First month, one subject $170 + $80 + $30 = $280 A$160 + A$100 = A$260
First month, two subjects $340 + $80 + $60 = $480 A$320 + A$100 = A$420
A year, one subject about $2,150 about A$2,020
A year, two subjects about $4,200 about A$3,940
Per day, one subject (the method is daily) about $5.70 about A$5.30
Per centre visit (two a week, 8 or 9 a month) about $20 about A$19

The last two rows are the useful ones. Kumon's fee is for a daily method, most of it done at home and marked by a parent; per day it is cheap. Per hour of an adult's attention it is not comparable with a tutor, because there is very little. Our guide to what Kumon is and how it works explains what the fee buys.

The rules that cost families money

  1. Fees are monthly, in advance. There is no per-session option.
  2. Notice by the 15th. To stop, pause or change subject, written notice is due by the 15th of the current month, or the following month is payable. This is Kumon Australia's published rule and the one US and UK centres describe at enrolment; it is the most common complaint in reviews.
  3. Three months away means re-enrolling. A long absence (a summer in India, a move) without paying ends the enrolment, and the fee applies again.
  4. No refunds of the enrolment or monthly fee, in Kumon Australia's published terms.
  5. Two subjects, two fees. There is no bundle, and sibling discounts are rare.

Promotions

Kumon North America runs seasonal offers. In September and October 2026 the centre pages carry "Get up to $100 in gift cards" (registration free of charge, with $70 credited in the second month of enrolment, $10 in the seventh and $20 later), and earlier in the year "Save up to $80". The offers are for new enrolments in a window and usually require staying enrolled for several months to collect the full value. Ask what offer is running before you register; the registration fee is the part most often waived.

What to ask the centre

  1. The monthly fee per subject, and whether it changes by level or by the number of weekly sessions.
  2. The registration and materials fees, and whether any current offer waives them.
  3. The notice rule, in writing: by which date, and for what.
  4. What happens over a long holiday abroad.
  5. How many children the instructor works with on a centre day, and who marks.
  6. Whether Kumon Connect (the tablet version) is offered, and at what price.

Kumon against a tutor, on price

A tutor is a different product (teaching, on the school's course, the whole hour on one child), so the fair comparison is per month for what each gives. One subject at Kumon's US median is $170 a month for daily practice and marking. A 1-on-1 online class with a master's-qualified teacher at Science with Shobha is US$10 to $13 an hour; a weekly hour is $40 to $55 a month and two hours a week $85 to $105, with ten minutes of set practice on the other days marked by the teacher. Families outside the US pay in their own currency (about A$14 to A$19 an hour in Australia, AED 37 to 48 in the UAE, £8 to £10 in the UK, C$14 to C$18 in Canada). No registration fee, no materials fee, no notice rule: billed monthly, stop at the end of any month. Whether Kumon or a tutor is the right buy for your child is the subject of is Kumon worth it, and the centre-versus-tutor comparison is in Mathnasium vs Kumon vs RSM vs a 1-on-1 tutor. The first class is free.

Questions parents ask

1How much is Kumon per month?
Each centre sets its own fee per subject. At the 38 US centres that published a price on their kumon.com page in October 2026, tuition ran from $120 to $210 a month per subject, with a median of $170; big-city centres sit at the top. Canadian centres published C$160 to C$250. Kumon Australia publishes A$160 a month nationally. Dubai centres list AED 850. A child doing maths and reading pays twice.
2What is the Kumon registration fee?
In the US, a one-time registration fee of $60 to $80 per student (most centres we read charge $80), plus a materials fee of $20 to $30 (most charge $30). In Australia the enrolment fee is A$100. In Dubai centres list AED 150 to 200. Many US centres waive or refund the registration fee in promotions, for example a back-to-school offer that refunds $100 across the second and seventh months.
3How much does Kumon cost for two subjects?
Double the monthly fee: maths and reading are billed separately, and there is usually no two-subject discount. At a typical US centre that is about $340 a month, or roughly $4,000 a year with fees; in Australia A$320 a month.
4How much is Kumon per year?
One subject at the US median of $170 a month is $2,040 a year, plus about $110 in one-time fees in the first year, so about $2,150. Two subjects about $4,200. Australia: A$1,920 a year for one subject plus A$100 to enrol.
5Can you pause or cancel Kumon?
Fees are paid monthly in advance. Kumon Australia's published rule, which US and UK centres apply in similar form, is that notice to stop, pause or change subject must be given by the 15th of the month, or the following month's fee is payable; a child absent for more than three months who does not resume pays the enrolment fee again. Ask your centre for its rule in writing.
