Pearson Edexcel publishes its grade boundaries at 8am on results day as one document for GCSE and one for A level, listing every subject, tier and component. This page is the June 2026 boundaries for the subjects most students take, in one place, with the June 2025 figures beside the GCSE ones so the movement is visible, and notes on how to read the tiers, the double award and the option-based subjects. The cross-board comparison and the explanation of how boundaries are set are on GCSE grade boundaries 2026 explained; the International GCSE boundaries are on a separate page.
Download the Edexcel June 2026 grade boundaries table (PDF) (GCSE by tier with 2025 beside each, the A level table, and a mock-marking worksheet; two pages, free).
GCSE, June 2026, with June 2025 in brackets
Minimum raw marks for the subject grade. "Subject" boundaries are the ones that decide the grade; Pearson also publishes notional boundaries for each paper, which are guides to where a paper sat, not grades.
Maths (1MA1, out of 240)
| Tier | 9 | 8 | 7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Higher | 208 (217) | 177 (186) | 146 (156) | 114 (121) | 82 (87) | 50 (53) | 34 (36) | ||
| Foundation | 181 (175) | 151 (144) | 110 (105) | 69 (67) | 29 (29) |
Every Higher boundary fell by 2 to 11 marks and every Foundation boundary rose by up to 7: the Higher papers were harder than 2025's and the Foundation papers slightly easier, and the grades were held to the same standard.

History 1HI0 (out of 168) and Religious Studies 1RA0 and 1RB0 (out of 204) have a separate boundary for every combination of options, so there is no single figure; in June 2026 the History grade 9 ranged from 144 to 151 and grade 4 from 61 to 67 across the combinations, and Religious Studies A grade 4 from 48 to 60. Pearson's document lists each combination by its option codes. French and Spanish moved to new specifications first awarded in 2026; the figures above are the June 2025 ones for the outgoing specifications, and the 2026 boundaries for the new 1FR1 and 1SP1 specifications are in Pearson's document.

Reading the A level table: the gap between grades is fixed by the arithmetic rule, so in Maths each grade below A is 36 or 37 marks apart and an A needs 85 percent; in Psychology an A needs only 60 percent of 270 because the papers are marked with levels-based mark schemes that few students score highly on. The percentage a grade takes says nothing about how hard the subject is; it says how the paper spreads marks.
How to use this page
- Mark a mock against the row for your tier and subject, then write the gap to the next grade in marks. A Higher maths student at 130 of 240 in 2026 terms is a 6 with 16 marks to a 7, which is one long question done properly on each of the three papers.
- Expect movement of a few marks. The 2026 Higher maths grade 7 was 10 marks below 2025's; the 2027 figure will differ again. Plan to be ten marks clear.
- Use the notional component boundaries in Pearson's document to see which paper is behind; a student who scores a 7 on Paper 1 and a 5 on Paper 3 has a calculator-paper problem, not a maths problem.
- A level: A* needs the top papers to be strong, not every paper. On Edexcel A level maths the A at 254 of 300 is 85 percent; the sciences' A sit between 73 and 82 percent.
How we teach for Edexcel
1-on-1 online in UK after-school hours, with Edexcel's own past papers and mark schemes and every mock graded against the latest June boundaries. The first 30-minute class is free: send the subject, the tier and the last mock marks on WhatsApp or the contact page. The subject pages are GCSE maths, GCSE physics, GCSE chemistry, A level maths and A level chemistry; the AQA figures are on AQA grade boundaries June 2026 and the A level comparison on A level grade boundaries June 2026.
