Parents ask about NAPLAN
1Is NAPLAN tutoring worth it?
For the child who knows the maths but loses marks to question formats, the online adaptive pacing or word problems, yes, and quickly: those are teachable in a term. For the child who is behind in the strand itself, the tutoring is worth it because it is really Year 3 or Year 5 maths tutoring with NAPLAN as the checkpoint. What is not worth it is a fortnight of drills in February.
2When should NAPLAN preparation start?
Term 4 of the year before, or the start of Term 1 at the latest. NAPLAN sits in the second and third weeks of March, so a child who starts in February has four to five weeks. We prefer two classes a week from October or November, covering the year's numeracy strand in order, then the practice tests in February.
3Do you practise in the online adaptive format?
Yes. Since 2023 every test except Year 3 writing is online and adaptive: the test branches to harder or easier questions depending on the answers to the first block. We practise with on-screen question types (drag and drop, hot spots, typed answers), the pacing for the branches, and the calculator and non-calculator sections in Years 7 and 9.

On this site: the Year 3, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 9 numeracy practice tests, each with the answers and a free PDF, are linked on this page, and the official past papers are on the ACARA and NAP sites. Bring your child's attempt to the free demo and we will mark it live.
5Do you follow my child's school syllabus for NAPLAN?
Yes. NAPLAN classes are mapped to Australian Curriculum · ACARA · 10–22 March 2027. Send us the textbook or exam board name and we plan around the same sequence, so what your child learns with us is exactly what is tested at school.
6How many NAPLAN classes a week do you recommend?
Most families start with two 1-on-1 classes a week for a term, then adjust. Before an exam we add mock-paper sessions. There is no long-term contract and you can pause any time.
7What does a NAPLAN class look like?
One tutor, one child, on a shared whiteboard: a five-minute recap, the new concept explained with diagrams, guided practice where the tutor watches every step, then a summary with notes, an assignment and the recording.
8Which exams do you prepare NAPLAN students for?
