Knowledge base

Parents ask about Hindi

1My child understands Hindi but will not speak it. Where do you start?
With speaking, not the script. Most children growing up abroad understand far more Hindi than they say. The first weeks are conversation about the child's own day, games and stories, with the tutor speaking only Hindi and the child answering in any mix at first. The Devanagari script starts once the child is answering in Hindi, usually after four to eight classes.
2At what age should a child start Hindi classes?
Speaking can start at four or five. The script works best from about six, when the child is already reading in English and can hold a pencil steadily. Starting later is fine: a ten-year-old who speaks some Hindi learns the whole script in about three months of two classes a week.
3Do you teach Hindi for the CBSE and ICSE board exams?
Yes. CBSE Hindi Course A and Course B and ICSE Hindi, chapter by chapter from the school's textbooks (Kshitij, Kritika, Sparsh, Sanchayan and the ICSE readers), with letter and essay writing, unseen passages and grammar to the board pattern, and past papers before the exam. IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language is taught to its own syllabus.
4Do you follow my child's school syllabus for Hindi?
Yes. Hindi classes are mapped to Spoken Hindi for children abroad · CBSE Hindi Course A and B · ICSE Hindi · IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language. Send us the textbook or exam board name and we plan around the same sequence, so what your child learns with us is exactly what is tested at school.
5How many Hindi classes a week do you recommend?
Most families start with two 1-on-1 classes a week for a term, then adjust. Before an exam we add mock-paper sessions. There is no long-term contract and you can pause any time.
6What does a Hindi class look like?
One tutor, one child, on a shared whiteboard: a five-minute recap, the new concept explained with diagrams, guided practice where the tutor watches every step, then a summary with notes, an assignment and the recording.
7Which exams do you prepare Hindi students for?
CBSE Hindi Course A and B, ICSE Hindi, IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language, and school Hindi tests in the Indian schools abroad. Mock papers are marked and reviewed live in class.
8Is the first class free?
Yes — a 30-minute demo in English, Hindi or Punjabi, no card and no obligation. Parents are welcome to sit in.
